I hope everyone has a lovely Caturday! Ours is low-key, as usual, with me doing schoolwork and Aaron working on machinery projects. The cats are currently snoozing.

Happy New Year!
May you all have a most happy new year!
As you can see, Charlie and Mau will start 2019 with a snooze in Aaron’s sock bin.
Garrus found a perch on Aaron’s freshly folded shirt. The boys have been exploring the clothes rack lately. So much climbing!
Mostly snuzzling (snoozing + snuggling – or would that be snoozling?) though. So much zzz.
Happy New Year!

I believe I’ve mentioned before that my cats are solar-powered. This is particularly apparent when it’s (1) cold and (2) raining (or has been raining for a few days). When the sun comes out, it’s a race for who has the best sunning spots. Charlie claimed his.
If I fits, I sits – or in this case, lounge unrepentantly in the freshly sanitized, sunlit Cat Genie. Doesn’t he look smug?
You Found Me!
Now that winter is coming (cue Game of Thrones theme music), sunlight streams into our master bathroom in the afternoon. The tabbies like to lounge behind the Cat Genies on the platform and window sill – it’s a lovely, somewhat secluded sunning spot. Mau recently found it.
He seemed rather surprised that I found him. But look at that face!
Charlie seemed rather pleased with himself.
Garrus was not amused that his sunning routine was interrupted by my presence.
Do your cats have favored sunning spots? Where are they? Do they change throughout the year? Are they tolerant of you finding their favorite haunts? Share in the comments!
National Cat Day
Hooray, hooray! It’s National Cat Day!
Oh wait. I’m pretty sure that’s every day at our house. The clowder insists that we celebrate, even if we don’t give them new toys every day. Instead we give them adoration.
Garrus and Charlie observed National Cat Day with an appropriately cute snuggle. Not quite a heart shape but bromance-flavored nonetheless.
When I told Mau it was National Cat Day, this was his response. Typical.
Everyone wanted to bro down for National Cat Day. Note Garrus’ intense side eye.
How will you celebrate National Cat Day? Will there be catnip-filled merrymaking, new toys, and cat tower carousing? Share in the comments!
Mau likes to snooze on the cat tree and purrs most happily whenever he gets a visit.
Message from Garrus and Charlie
We interrupt to your regularly scheduled programming to bring you this important news bulletin:
We are the opposite of concerned. You may now resume your previous activities.
Toothless King of the House
It’s hard to believe that Mau has been with us for two months now. When we brought him home in late June, he was timid and certainly not feeling his best given the advanced state of her periodontal disease. In the Pflugerville Animal Shelter, prior to his transfer to Austin Pets Alive! and foster care, he was withdrawn, gaunt, not eating much, and spending most of his time in a plastic bin in his cat condo.
He just looked so sad, stressed out, and in need of serious TLC. Although volunteers regularly loved on him and brushed him, his coat was in a sorry state because he did not groom himself very well.
We breathed a huge sigh of relief when Mau started eating wet food and ate with relish! Because he was underweight, we gave him additional small meals. What does it say about our house that two out of three cats need to eat like Hobbits in order to get to a healthy weight?
When Aaron and I spent time with him, we were nevertheless struck by how sweet he was. With photos like this, it was quite apparent that we had a most handsome boy on our hands too.
One month later, he showed us how much he loved human company and that he was thoroughly down with snuggles. Lap time is an imperative!
After he had his long-awaited and much-needed dental surgery, he started to blossom. While sick, he demonstrated little interest in playing (understandable) but once he started feeling better, we caught him batting crinkle balls and springs around the house. He hopped into boxes and raced up the cat tree, unceremoniously unseating Charlie from his favorite platform.
Our evenings are MC’d by this lovey boy. Isn’t he cute? He greets us with an enthusiastic and demanding “MEH!” and purrs when he receives the attention he wants. And he’s charmingly fluffy too!
For the Sake of Cute
I love catching a snuggle in progress. More often than not, Charlie uses Garrus as a pillow. Garrus never seems to mind.
They have no problem sharing the extra-comfy blue elephant pillow.
Do you have pets that love each other? How do they show their affection for one another? Please share in the comments!
Garrus and Charlie have lazing about down pat.
Mau prefers loafing in a box.
On a daily basis, my house becomes a vortex of inaction. Sleeping cats are SO CUTE!
Do you agree? Are your cats extra cute when sleeping? Where do they like to sleep or lounge? Share in the comments!
